Peak Update Adds Desert Biome and Bug Phobia Mode
A new patch has arrived in PEAK, and it is not just a few bug fixes. The latest update brings fresh terrain to explore, new tools to try out, and gameplay tweaks that could change how players tackle each run. There is even a limited-time quest tied to a special reward.
While the developers are keeping some surprises hidden, this update still packs enough content to get players climbing again. Here is what is included in PEAK v1.20.a.
The Mesa Biome
The biggest addition is The Mesa, a hot and arid environment filled with sandy trails, rocky cliffs, and occasional patches of shade. For the next seven days, The Mesa will replace Alpine before future updates rotate between the two. The biome also holds hidden secrets for players willing to explore off the main route.
New Badges and Items
Ten new badges have been added, each unlocking cosmetic rewards. Players can also find and use new gear:
- Balloons
- Scout Cannon
- Parasol
- Sunscreen
- Aloe Vera
- Dynamite
Developers have hinted that a secret is hidden somewhere in The Kiln.
Accessibility and Controls
- New Bug Phobia Mode removes arachnids and other insects.
- Full controller navigation is now supported in the settings menu.
Balance Changes
- Fog in the Tropics rises more slowly.
- Heat status decays faster but takes longer to begin decaying.
- Hot rocks in the Caldera inflict more Heat.
Bug Fixes
- General performance improvements.
- Fixed teleport exploit with broken rusty pitons.
- Naturalist Badge no longer activates after eating packaged food.
- Backpack cannot be interacted with while passed out.
- Adjusted luggage collision to prevent players from getting stuck.
- Fixed Bugle of Friendship effects when out of juice.
- Corrected biome-specific loot spawning in the wrong area.
